Template

The below is a community member's testimony.  Feel free to use it, something of your own, or something as simple as  "I support LD 911, and it "ought to pass."  To get other wording ideas, as online testimony is submitted for this bill, you can see it here: https://legislature.maine.gov/ctl/VLA/03-17-2025?panel=3&time=0&sortdir=0&sortby=2 after clicking on the bill number.

I support LD 911 “An Act to Modify Ranked-choice Voting with Regard to Candidates Who Withdraw from an Election.”

This is common sense legislation.  A vote for candidates that have withdrawn from the race and whose name remains on the ballot must not count as a legitimate choice, as is current practice.  Move on to the highest-ranking choice for candidates still in the race.  To count a vote for a candidate that has withdrawn is frankly, ridiculous and a wasted choice.

If we must use this system to vote, please clean it up.

I support LD 911, and it “ought to pass.”
