The below is a community member's testimony.  Feel free to use it, something of your own, or something as simple as  "I support LD 410, and "it ought to pass."  To get other wording ideas, as online testimony is submitted for this bill, you can see it here:https://legislature.maine.gov/ctl/JUD/03-04-2025?panel=1&time=0&sortdir=0&sortby=2 after clicking on the bill number.

I support LD 410 “An Act to Require Parental Consent to Withhold Life-sustaining Measures for a Minor or to Comply with a Do-not-resuscitate Order for a Minor.”

As I understand it, this bill prohibits health care practitioners, health care providers and facilities such as nursing homes, hospitals and children's homes from withholding life-sustaining measures or instituting a do-not-resuscitate order for an unemancipated minor without the written consent of a parent or legal guardian of the minor, as well as supporting a number of other parental/legal guardians rights and responsibilities.

Once again, common sense legislation.  The Maine legislature and medical providers are constantly working to circumvent parental/legal guardian authority and direction.  This must stop.  A minor’s parents/legal guardian has the final say.  Period.

Again, I support LD 410 “An Act to Require Parental Consent to Withhold Life-sustaining Measures for a Minor or to Comply with a Do-not-resuscitate Order for a Minor”, and it “ought to pass.”
